WHATS THE JELLY LIKE SUBSTANCE GROWING ON DOCKS AND MOORING LINES?
Bryzoans= They are jelly like blobs that can be confused with egg masses. Sometimes attached to submerged sticks or docks. What looks like an individual is a colony of animals. Different species look different: some are wispy and mosslike, others are large round gelatinous, firm and slimey. While they are unsightly on piers and docks, bryzoans are not a water pollution problen and in fact help to filter the water. For more information go the this web site.
