November 18th 2009. I have not seen a loon this week, they must have left for the winter. A friend from Boothbay Hbr. said he has heard them calling for a week or two. Just sign of weather to come. Looking forward to ICE OUT in 2010.

The loons are back. I have heard them calling every day since Saturday. Several groups of ducks and one group of geese have also been sighted this week. Seagulls of course have also found the lake again.

JUNE 2010 Dean Smiley and Tom Renckens have reported that one baby loon chick has been spotted in Hayden cove. So far this is the only one we have heard about. The annual Maine loon count is 24th of July this year. We hope by then we may have more reports.
